Durham Education Group was launched by East Durham College in 2011. Its purpose is to promote and provide excellent educational opportunities for international students. We work alongside other providers and organisations on a range of initiatives, all with an international focus. We pride ourselves on being local specialists with international reach.
Our English Language Centre is based at East Durham College’s Houghall Campus. The main teaching and administrative offices at Houghall are set in picturesque grounds with woodlands stretching over 450 acres. The Peterlee Campus is a modern, purpose-built College with a fully equipped gym and boxing ring, a hairdressing salon and an in-house restaurant, Scene1. International students can take advantage of the facilties of both campuses thanks to our regular free minibus shuttle service.
We ensure the high quality of our teaching by employing only CELTA and DELTA qualified teachers. Our current teachers have many years’ experience of teaching all over the world and have successfully led students through IELTS and Cambridge examinations. Teachers are observed regularly and are assessed through the College’s internal quality processes. We are preparing for British Council accreditation in the coming months which will enhance our reputation for delivering excellence.
